Successful Retirement – Healthy Aging and Financial Security

New research from Transamerica Center for Retirement Studies® (TCRS), in collaboration with the Aegon Center for Longevity and Retirement (ACLR) and Instituto de Longevidade Mongeral Aegon, reveals that both good financial habits and a healthy lifestyle are critical components of preparing for a successful retirement. Key findings from the report, Successful Retirement – Healthy Aging and Financial Securityinclude:

  • Healthy Aging — There is a major disconnect between workers’ outlook on their future health and current behaviors.
  • Financial Security — Workers feel very or somewhat personally responsible for making sure they have sufficient income in retirement (73 percent of workers globally, 91 percent in the U.S.).

The report contains in-depth analysis, country comparisons, case studies and recommendations. It is accompanied by stand-alone infographics and additional reports for select countries. This year’s survey is based on interviews with 14,400 workers and 1,600 retired people in 15 countries: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

The survey report, press release, U.S.-specific report, infographics and past reports can be found on the global retirement research page on Transamerica Center for Retirement Studies (TCRS’) website. The goal is that they ignite conversations around the globe on how people can achieve success in retirement through healthy aging and financial preparedness; please feel free to share them with your network.
