Vivian Vasallo was recently hired as a managing director for the Milken Institute Center for the Future of Aging. Vasallo’s experience in organizational management and program leadership will enhance our efforts to elevate the Center’s work to the next level of effectiveness. Vasallo was previously vice president at the AARP Foundation, where she led financial services innovation, housing and impact investment strategies. She recently completed a sabbatical in Barcelona, where she conducted a study of the Spanish impact investing, social enterprise and philanthropic sectors.
Vasallo has been a regular contributor to national media, including C-SPAN, Forbes, and Univision. She was appointed a Practitioner Affiliate at American University’s Masters of Social Enterprise program, where she lectured on social entrepreneurship. Co-founder of the Washington, DC chapter of Hispanics in Philanthropy, she has served on the boards of the Consumer Federation of America and the National Housing Conference, and as a member of Mission Investors Exchange. Vasallo was a 2012 Independent Sector NGEN Fellow and a recipient of the Embassy of Spain’s Young Hispanic Leader Award and the Hispanic Association of Corporate Responsibility Young Hispanic Corporate Achiever Award. She did her undergraduate work at American University’s School of International Service and earned her MA from the University of Miami.
